Experience:
Gate attendant in NY was extremely rude. We had to switch planes after an aborted take off and were supposed to have exactly the same seats on a different plane that was available. All we had to do was show our old boarding pass stub to get on the new plane. My daughter and I were in the last group to board the plane. When it came time to show our stubs, the gate attendant took them, threw them in the trash, and printed out new boarding passes without giving any reason. The new boarding passes were for seats at the very back of the plane. When I explained that all the passengers were told that we were to take exactly the same seats, and I had paid for the extra leg room for the seats we had, she told me to stop arguing and just get on the plane. When I asked for my old ticket stub that she had thrown in the garbage, she refused to give it to me and told me to do as I was told. As we went down the jetway, another flight attendant travelling on vacation told us that she had watched the whole incident and that we should just take our original seats, which we did. Before the gate attendant closed the airplane door, she whispered to the two flight attendants near the door, and they looked around at us. Needless to say, we got the cold shoulder for the rest of the flight.
